At the NYC Council budget hearing in March, the Taxi & Limousine Commission (TLC) announced it will hold a virtual public hearing on April 5, to discuss an increase to the flat rate to/from Manhattan to JFK to $65 from the current rate of $52, and the creation of a new $39 flat rate for a trip to/from the Manhattan central business district to La Guardia Airport.

The TLC said the price hike is meant to help compensate taxi drivers for the time they spend waiting at the airports.

A proposed rule to create annual financial disclosure requirements for any individual with an interest in a NYC taxicab medallion was also discussed at the March City Council meeting.
