An analysis of building data from NYC’s comptroller’s office revealed that Tuesday and Wednesday are the most popular days for officegoers, with buildings reporting 47% occupancy. Not surprisingly, Fridays lag behind, with 21% occupancy.

At this time last year, landlords were reporting half that or even less on those days, the data shows, signaling that employees are feeling more comfortable heading to the office – although hybrid work schedules are not disappearing altogether.

A survey in April by the Partnership for New York City showed that 78% of respondents intended to maintain a hybrid office model, compared with 6% of respondents before the Covid-19 pandemic. More than half of the companies surveyed require workers to spend two or three days in the office; 14% do not require any in-office days; and 9% require employees to be at work every weekday.
