A For-Hire Vehicle (FHV) driver told the Daily News he beat a would-be robber bloody outside a Midtown Manhattan deli in November. Wallace Reid, 39, described leaving the suspect in handcuffs with a bloody face.
Reid says he was taking his boss’s dog for a walk about 7:45am on a November morning and decided to stop to buy breakfast at a deli at the corner of E. 31st St. and 5th Ave. when Alexander Zillatoro, 31, began pestering him for money. Reid said he told Zillatoro he didn’t have any cash – only a bank card. The assailant allegedly then physically assaulted Reid, so “that’s when I punched him in the face… at the same time calling for help – for him, not for me,” Reid said.
Zillatoro spat blood at a police officer who arrived at the scene to make the arrest, requiring the officer to be treated by medics. Zillatoro was arrested on charges of forcible touching, disorderly conduct and harassment. The suspect gave his address as 100 Centre St., the location of Manhattan Criminal Court.
