Hello everybody… This month, I want to talk about the need to take TLC tickets very seriously and to do your best to amend every single TLC ticket you receive as a professional for-hire-vehicle (FHV) operator down to a no-point ticket.
Many TLC tickets carry points that can cause you to lose your job as an FHV driver. Be very careful if you receive a TLC summons/ticket. It is important to consult with a representative or lawyer of your choice (such as myself), if you receive a TLC ticket. Not every TLC ticket carries points, but you must treat each ticket you receive from a TLC inspector or NYPD or PAPD TLC issuing officer as very serious.
Some tickets, like red-light camera tickets – which only cost $50 from the NYC Department of Finance – can still lead to TLC tickets that carry points, which can result in a revocation of your license or even the loss of your job. It is important to establish a relationship with a representative or lawyer and consult with them each and every time you receive a ticket or summons of any type.
You are a professional driver. You are responsible for driving other people around on the sometimes-dangerous roads of this City and beyond – a job I’m sure you take very seriously. The TLC also takes seriously its obligation to police the for-hire industry (including taxis, liveries, and vans, etc.).
Anyone logging in long hours on NYC streets can get ticketed, but in many instances, points from TLC tickets can be eliminated and fines/penalties reduced, if you take the time ask for help from a professional. Make sure you take ALL tickets/summonses seriously and ALWAYS do your best to protect your rights and interests. It is vitally important to you and your family.
Thank you for reading my article. Until next month, be well
