NEW YORK, USA – NOV 4, 2017: The Metropolitan Opera House in New York City at Lincoln Center.

The Metropolitan Opera House’s stagehands were back building sets in July, with the expectation that the 2021 season will start on time. Local 1 of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees said it reached a tentative deal nearly a year after its last contract expired, amid Covid-19 pandemic closures.

A special performance of Verdi’s Requiem is scheduled for Sept. 11, a commemoration of the 2001 attacks. The MET is expected to fully reopen Sept. 27.
